The coach of Bute Shinty Club’s second string has spoken of his pride in the team after watching their Bullough Cup bid falter on Saturday.
Bute lost 2-1 on penalties to local rivals Col Glen after a battling 1-1 draw at the Meadows, with Garry Craig opening the scoring for Bute before Jamie Sutton levelled with a penalty.
But David Kilpatrick said he couldn’t praise his players enough in spite of the result.
“Nobody put a foot wrong,” he told The Buteman. “The penalty wasn’t a penalty, and Col Glen never looked threatening until the penalty was awarded, but I don’t want to dwell on that too much.
“The important thing was that we kept going and that our heads never dropped. The boys really played out of their skins and I can’t say enough to praise them.”
