The coach of Bute Shinty Club’s second team says he was heartened by his charges’ performance in their first pre-season run-out on Saturday.
David Kilpatrick watched his team beat Col-Glen, draw with Dunoon and lose to Bute’s first team and Kyles Athletic during a nine-a-side tournament on the 3G surface at Rothesay Joint Campus.
“The boys all did well,” Kilpatrick told The Buteman.
“I gave lads like Ethan Kell and Andrew McFarlane a run-out against Dunoon for their first senior shinty experience.
“I was a bit disappointed we lost to Kyles, but our own first team struggled against us and it was good to beat Col-Glen, because they came here with a pretty strong team.”
This Saturday, February 13, the Bute second team are in friendly action with a ten-a-side game against Kyles.
Like last Saturday’s tournament, the game will be played on the 3G at Rothesay Joint Campus; throw-up is at 2pm and players should meet at the clubhouse at 1pm.
