Two teams from the Isle of Bute Pool League will travel to Fife this weekend to compete in the Scottish Pool Association’s national five-person tournament finals.

The Mafia and Fubar will be among more than 40 teams gathered at Pettycur Bay caravan park in Aberdour for the event, which gets under way on Friday at 7.30pm.

The two Bute teams qualified from the local five-person competition which was held over the summer months and was won by The Mafia thanks to 6-4 and 9-1 wins over Fubar in their two encounters under the tournament’s ‘double eliminator’ format.

The Mafia are Chez Harrison (captain), Duncan Brown, David Speirs, Gordon McMillan and Willie Mullen; Fubar comprise Mike McHardy (captain), Richie More, Gavin Wilson, Richard Reid and Robbie Docherty.
