Pool: Kingarth 1 are out in front

Kingarth 1 are now the only team in the Isle of Bute Pool League with an undefeated record after five weeks of the 2012-13 campaign.

Second-placed Mac’s 2 lost for the first time this season as the south end team opened up a four-point lead in the competition, sponsored this year by Mac’s Bar - while Kingarth 1’s John McBride is out on his own in the individual standings as the only player with five wins to his name.

Kingarth 1’s strong start to the season continued with a 5-0 win over the Palace Bar in the preliminary round of the Golfers Bar Shield; the other preliminary round tie saw Mac’s 2 defeat Struan 1 by a 5-1 margin.

The draw for the first round, to be played on January 7, is as follows: Mac’s 1 v Kingarth 1, Golfers 2 v Kingarth 2, Galatea v Golfers 1, Struan 2 v Mac’s 2.

Posters and entry forms for the open singles and doubles competition, sponsored this year by the Galatea Bar, will be available shortly. Singles entry will now be £4 and doubles £6 per team.
