The clock is counting down fast to Bute’s first ever beach cricket festival.
The event, taking place on Sunday, September 27, is the brainchild of Bute County Cricket Club president, Ian Downie, and it’s a fun way of winding down the cricket season, keeping interest in the game alive on the island and hopefully increasing the club’s fan base and membership.
Bute’s artificial two-part Flicx pitch will be transported to Ettrick Bay and laid to form two pitches on the sands as the tide recedes, and as many teams of five or six as possible will compete on a round-robin basis to be kids and adults champions.
The event will start at 2pm and the entry fee will be £4 for adults and £2 per child.
All ages and abilities are welcome: to register your interest, please call 07713 030574.
