The annual Isle of Bute Triathlon takes place on Sunday, May 15, with both Sprint and Novice races full and plenty of local involvement.
The organisers have worked hard to put on what promises to be another great event, and have now secured terrific support for the event from the Co-operative supermarket; goody bags are being donated for each participant!
The event is based around the Rothesay Leisure Centre, and starts at midday, with lots of trashing up and down the pool before the individual waves of cyclists head off up the road past the Academy – and hopefully to come back again, and then run a few laps around the park stadium/park area. The whole event is, amongst other things, very visual, and as always spectators are very welcome.
This year there are a few local teams taking part: Team Maggie Catlin and Team Molly Doyle are both from the Academy, and a Port Inn Team and the Docherty Clan Team have been added to the mix so anything might happen! Colin McArthur is also challenging himself, going solo.
The organisers would appreciate any help with keeping the road clean and clear from the pool out to and past Scalpsie Junction as far as St Blane’s turn.
