The organisers of the annual Isle of Bute Triathlon have announced that the 2015 event will take place on Sunday, May 10.
The format is slightly changed from previous years, in that the cycle element of the Novice event will stay on the road, rather than down to and back past Loch Fad as in previous years.
Competitors can choose from: Novice event (swim 16 lengths, road cycle 13km, run 3km) or Sprint event (swim 30 lengths, road cycle 20km, run 5km). This program is designed as a community event to cater for a wide range of participation, fitness and abilities, with anyone 12 years or over eligible. If you don’t fancy doing a complete event yourself, for both Novice and Sprint events team entries are permitted: one swims, one cycles, and one runs, or some variation on this.
Why not find others who can share in the fun and sense of achievement? Team up with some work mates, family, your pet, come in fancy dress, the organisers don’t mind.
As in previous years, the Calum Speirs Triathlon Memorial Trophy will be presented to the participant considered to have ‘achieved the most’ from the event.
Both events will bring plenty of participants from off the island, some quite serious and some that might be described as fun seekers. The more competitors the better for all involved; so whether you’ve done it before or never even considered it, why not give it a go this year? It promises to be a great event. Also, don’t leave it until the last minute to enter, as it’s a very popular sport..Any queries or advice on training can be directed to the club via firstname.lastname@example.org and event details and entry is available online by clicking here. There are also special discounted entry fees for local entrants.
Keep an eye on The Buteman for further details.
