The sport of cyclo-cross will return to Bute next month as part of the weekend programme for the Bute Wheelers’ annual Festival of Cycling.
New to the festival last year, the cyclo-cross event around the Meadows in Rothesay proved a popular addition to the weekend’s schedule of road races, time trials and hillclimbs, with a good crowd turning out to watch the competitors do battle in the early evening autumnal ‘glaur’.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday, September 20 at 5.30pm, and lasts for 50 minutes plus one lap of a course packed with favourite cyclo-cross features including terrain, terroir, portage, obstacle and more.
Entry is limited to the first 80 competitors, and 20 have signed up so far - to find out more click here or contact the organisers via Twitter at @butecross.
This year’s Bute Festival of Cycling takes place on September 20 and 21 and includes the Serpentine Hillclimb, Circuit of Bute 2-up time trial, Port Bannatyne 10-mile time trial and the Isle of Bute Road Race Series - more information at the Bute Wheelers’ website.
