The date for the fourth annual Bute Cyclo Cross race this September has been announced - and the organisers are keen to encourage islanders to be part of an increasingly popular event.
This year’s race will take place on Saturday, September 17 and will once again be part of the Bute Festival of Cycling.
Previous events have proved hugely popular with cyclo cross competitors from throughout Scotland - and with nearly six hundred riders competing in the national championships in 2015, the sport’s popularity is exploding across the country.
Bute race organiser Stuart Green said: “Bute has an opportunity to latch onto this and there with be loads of possibilities for local businesses and islanders in general to become part of the event.”
Previous Bute races have taken place around the Meadows, Charlie’s Park and the Public Park in Rothesay around innovative and challenging courses which have given cyclists and spectators - and even press photographers! - the chance to view the area in a whole new light.
