Bute’s curlers collected two trophies at the Argyll Province end-of-season prize giving ceremony this week.
The presentation of the Macquiston Cup and Brandane Cup came as some consolation after the islanders missed out on the honours at the last Province competitions of the season earlier in the day.
Donald Kinnear, Colin Sharp, Beck Reid and Hugh Yeamans lost narrowly to Glenorchy in the battle for the Ferguson Cup, before falling to a heavy defeat against Upper Cowal in the day’s second contest, for the Last Bite Trophy.
Bute’s last two Greenock Day League games of the season were also played this week and saw the island club defeat Newark 7-3 before losing 8-6 to eventual league champions Gourock 5.
