A depleted and substantially weakened Bute cricket team found itself on the wrong end of the result against a full strength GHK side at Anniesland on Saturday.
For the second week running the island team could only muster a nine-strong squad - and whilst they got away with it against Alps, this time, with much of their front line bowling and batting attack unavailable, their weaknesses were exposed as they came up against the division’s leaders.
Alan Peacock made hay in a quick-fire 21, which was the highlight of Bute’s innings; extras contributed 45 runs, and in the circumstances Bute’s total of 101 was a decent effort.
But GHK’s openers set about the Bute bowling with relish, and T. Mahood contributed a match-winning 58 as the home side secured victory for the loss of only three wickets.
