Bute Shinty Club’s senior team returned to league duty with a 3-1 home win over Taynuilt on Saturday - stretching their one hundred per cent record in South Division One to a ninth game.
Following their Balliemore Cup triumph last weekend, Bute took only four minutes to open the scoring, John McCallum dancing through the visitors’ defence and rounding keeper Gary Cameron to slot the ball home.
Roberto Zavaroni added a second with a powerful drive five minutes before half-time, but Taynuilt provided stubborn opposition, particularly after the break, and it wasn’t until the 73rd minute that Bute sealed the points, Robert Walker firing home from a James Craig pass.
Stuart Scott seized on some hesitant Bute defending to net a consolation for Taynuilt six minutes from time.

Meanwhile, the Bute second team’s league match away to Tayforth on Saturday was cancelled after work commitments meant Bute were unable to raise a team.
