The Isle of Bute Sailing Club’s 2016 competition season will begin in traditional fashion with the Opening Muster on Sunday, April 24.
Before then, though, members of the club will gather at the clubhouse this Sunday, April 17, to prepare the club and its boats for the season of events which lies ahead.
The club’s commodore, Richard Fairman, and its committee members are hoping to attract new members over the coming year in a bid to boost interest in sailing on the island.
Writing in the club’s first monthly newsletter of the new season, Mr Fairman said: “The committee and I have been very busy over the winter months on plans to develop the club and to move forward.
“A great deal of effort is being made to attract and train cadets, but we must not forget we are an adult sailing club with cadets.
“The 2016 season is about to open with the Opening Muster on Sunday, April 24. I hope to meet members old and new - why not join us for a drink and a burger?”
