Bute pool player Mike McHardy has been selected to captain a Scottish team in the Nations Cup in Malta this month.

Mike, who is chairman of the Isle of Bute Pool League, has been selected alongside five other Scottish players for the Seniors B team, to participate in the European Blackball Association Nations Cup competition, which takes place in Malta next week.

Mike told us: “Unfortunately Scotland could not muster a Masters team this year, so I was asked to captain the Scotland B2 team.

“I feel privileged not only to play for Scotland again by the Scottish Pool Association but also to captain my team is absolutely amazing.”

Mike has a busy calendar ahead of him, which includes the World Blackball Championship in Lakeside in January next year, and is building on a successful year having reached the Masters.
