EUAN MORLEY found the net twice for Col-Glen as Bute Shinty Club’s second team were held to a 2-2 draw in their opening pre-season friendly at Glendaruel on Saturday.
Arran Dunn opened the scoring for Bute in the 12th minute, firing a low shot into the net after Graham Fisher held up possession well on the edge of the D, but a slip under pressure by goalkeeper John Whitelaw allowed Morley to level the scores eight minutes later.
Bute captain Neil McKirdy put the islanders back in front early in the second half with a well-struck shot from a tight angle, but four minutes from the end Morley earned the home side a share of the spoils with a neat finish from close range after dispossessing Bute full-back Craig McFarlane on the edge of the D.
The two teams will meet again in three weeks’ time, when Bute will enjoy home advantage on the opening day of the South Division Two league campaign.
A full report on Saturday’s match will appear in the new issue of The Buteman, available from February 16.
