Liz McMillan was the leading qualifier in the Ladies Championship with rounds of 80 and 80 at Rothesay Golf Club.
Other qualifiers were Phyllis McKirdy, Moira Gillies and Elizabeth Speirs. Scores in the second and third rounds were much improved on the first with the drier weather and the very welcome cutting of the rough.
Joan Torrance and Helen MacLeod will fight it out for the handicap prize.
This week The Barnardo’s Medal competition takes place on Monday, the Millennium Rosebowl will be played on Tuesday at Bute Golf Club and there is a free night on Thursday. This should be a good chance to catch up on ties before the deadline of June 28.
