Leighton Thomas breezed to victory in Bute Golf Club’s Kingarth Open on Sunday - his second victory in the competition in three years.

The wind-swept seaside course provided a rigorous test, but the ten-handicapper mastered the conditions in style to finish two shots clear of his nearest challenger courtesy of a net score of 61 on a card which included six threes.

Thomas’s Bute clubmate Andy Docherty (10) had to settle for runner-up spot for the second successive year as he edged John Kernaghan (12), also Bute, into third place on a better inward half after both players scored net 63.
