A combination of the more experienced and the young guns triumphed in the popular Ardmaleish Boat Yard Past Captains’ four-man team event at Port Bannatyne Golf Club on Sunday.
Thirteen teams of four entered this year with each team representing a Past Captain of the club and the two best net scores counting at each hole.
Ted McDonald was captain of the club in 2003 and his chosen blend of experience and young guns would win the day with a marvellous score of 119.
Ted played along with another past captain Jimmy Dunn and young guns Arran Dunn and Joe Livingstone. Second place went to Jim Bicker’s team of Jim, Angus Murray, Colin Spear and Ivan Cowie with a score of 121. They were one shot better than third placed Donald Standaloft’s team of Donald, John Black, James Webster and Robert McArthur who defeated Robert Jardine’s team by virtue of the better inward half.
Nearest the pins were won by Matthew Dunn at the 10th and Graham McArthur at the 18th.
This competition and format is proving very popular with the club membership and the club’s grateful thanks goes to the Ferguson Family and Ardmaleish Boat Yard for their continued and generous sponsorship.
