Relative newcomers to the game enjoyed a weekend of success at Port Bannatyne Golf Club.
Total newcomer Marjorie Matthew was joined on the winners’ podium in the McFadyen Trophy on Friday night by comparative beginner James Webster and the very experienced Donald Standaloft.
Then on Sunday it was the turn of two-season player Allan Stewart to take the plaudits when he won the Cowal Builders Seniors’ Open.
The weekend’s other competition saw Donald Standaloft continue his rich vein of early-season form when he posted a net 69 to lift the Hector Scott Quaich, thanks to a total score of 130 from the tournament’s two rounds; the best score of Saturday’s second round was the net 64 (73-9) posted by Matthew Dunn.
