Angus Murray did his hopes of winning the Winter League singles competition at Rothesay Golf Club on Saturday no harm at all with a score of 39 points.
Murray’s total was three clear of nearest challenger Michael Murty, with Hughie Charker and Jim Milliken both on 35.
Craig Charker heads the overall leaderboard with 286 points, one ahead of Murty, but when Murray records his eighth counting score of this year’s tournament he will jump into first position.
Gary Steele and Jimmy Crawford secured their first weekly win of this season’s Winter League pairs on Sunday by posting a winning tally of 43 points, two clear of Hughie and Craig Charker. The latter pair lead the overall standings with 332 points, followed by George Reynolds and Allan Smith on 325.
