Ian McFarlane scored four threes over the inward nine holes to ensure a comfortable victory in the first class section of the June medal at Port Bannatyne on Sunday.

His net 62 (72-10) was the best net score of the day and with a CSS of 66 also ensured a cut in his handicap, while his playing partner, Graham Fisher, continued his recent good form by winning the scratch category, an inward nine of 33 constituting an excellent fightback after his outward half of 40 shots.

the second class was won by Robert Currie with a net score of 68 (83-16), but only by virtue of the better inward half from Iain Macleod.
