Liz McMillan won the Millennium Trophy, played for by lady members of all three of Bute’s golf clubs, with a net 71 at Rothesay on Thursday.

An improvement in the weather encouraged a good turnout of players from all the island’s clubs for the competition, in which Maureen Wilson collected the prize for the straightest drive at the 16th hole, while Elaine Thom was nearest the pin at the 11th.

In other Rothesay news, Elaine Mackirdy returned the best score in the second round of the Ian Evans Eclectic competition with a net 71.
