Leighton Thomas celebrated his first silverware success of the season at Bute Golf Club on Saturday when he won the Lord Kingarth Trophy.
A solid performance by the 10-handicapper earned him 41 stableford points and resulted in a one-point margin of victory over runner-up Robert McKirdy.
The handsome award, which was gifted by the club’s patron, The Right Honourable Lord Kingarth, goes to Thomas for the first time and joins a lengthy list of trophy successes by the player over the past few years.
McKirdy produced his best golf with four birdies - including twos at the 12th and 15th holes - in a back-nine of 32, and also had the lowest scratch score of the day with a two-over-par 70.
