Hughie Charker again proved too good for the rest of the field in Saturday’s Winter League singles round at Rothesay Golf Club.
This week it was a close run race, though, as Hughie and two other players, Gordon Shaw and Bobby Liddell, all tied on a score of 34 points, with Hughie coming out on top after a countback.
Sunday’s round of the pairs competition saw more first-time winners in the shape of John Duncan and Neil Ritchie, whose 42-point tally was one better than overall leaders Jimmy Crawford and Gary Steele.
Two other pairs - Hughie and Craig Charker, and Frank Lee and Jim McClean - also scored 41 points, but had to settle for third and fourth places respectively, again after a countback.
