JIM McKIRDY put the seal on a year of outstanding achievement this week when, along with partner Stuart Wilson, he added the W.D. McFarlane Memorial Trophy to his already considerable haul of silverware.
Sunday’s 4 and 3 success over final opponents Arthur Hunter and Stevie Neilson completed a clean sweep of the club’s three knock-out tournaments for the Rothesay postman - and brought his major trophy tally this season to five.
The victory for McKirdy, who won the club championship for the first time in June, came hard on the heels of his success last week in the James Lamont Quaich medal, and followed his other match-play achievements in the Baillie Cup singles and the James Gill Memorial Cup foursomes.
The recent Baillie Cup win was particularly satisfying for Jim, who had to settle for runner-up spot to Alastair McFarlane last year.
