It’s week 17 of the 3 and 1 Winter League at Rothesay Golf Club, and in Sunday’s pairs event George Hanson and Stuart Robertson moved themselves into contention for the overall title.
Their winning score of 45 points, 23 out and 22 back, shot them up the leaderboard from 11th place up to 6th place with a total of 323 and an eighth score of 26 points.
Runners-up for the third time this year were George Reynolds and Allan Smith with 44 points, 19 points on the front nine but coming home with an amazing 25 points which included birdies at the 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th and 17th holes.
The Charker brothers, Hughie and Craig, remain in top position with a score of 336 points; George and Allan are on 332; Willie Glen and Gordon Shaw, and Stuart Strathie and Allan Laughlan are next on 324.
No twos were scored on Sunday so it will be a rollover next week at the 4th and 18th holes.
