Andy Docherty stands on the verge of a second successive Winter League title at Bute Golf Club as the competition for the McArthur Cup enters its final round this Saturday, March 29.
Docherty - who partnered Jason McKay to the Winter League crown at Rothesay on Sunday - appears to be out of reach of the chasing pack after establishing a 10-point lead in the stableford tournament, in which the best eight scores count.
The battle for second place at Kingarth is led by Graham McArthur on 312 points, two clear of David Bryden, with John McBride on 308 and Leighton Thomas on 303.
McBride burst into the reckoning last Saturday with an impressive round of 72 which included seven threes and a level-par 34 to the turn.
