A remarkable three-over-par score of 71 at Bute Golf Club has given Rothesay’s Andy Docherty a four-shot lead going into the final round of the M&M Trophy tournament, the annual competition played over the island’s three golf courses.
The 10-handicapper finished seven shots ahead of his nearest competitor on Sunday at Kingarth, where the second round was played in challenging conditions of wind and rain.
Added to his score of 71 at Rothesay earlier in the week the player heads for Port Bannatyne this Sunday with a leading aggregate of 132.
The other top scorers after two rounds are: 136 - Sam Jamieson (68, 68), 141 - Matthew Dunn (69, 72) and Joe Livingstone (74, 67); 146 - Tommy Duncan (72, 74) and Iain Simpson (74, 72); 147 - Graham Fisher (74, 73) and Hector Whitelaw (71, 76); 148 - David Cameron (79, 69).
