Andy DOCHERTY began the new month the same way he finished the old one by finishing at the top of the standings in the September medal competition at Kingarth.

Having partnered Stevie Neilson to victory in the Captain’s Day greensomes on August 25, Docherty, clearly relishing the taste of victory, posted a splendid net score of 59 (72-13) to finish this week’s medal competition seven shots clear of the field.

Three players led the chasing pack with scores of 66 - John Kernaghan (78-12), Robert McKirdy (71-5) and Peter Martin (89-23), followed by Richie More and Cammy Middleton two shots further back (both on 78-10).

Robert, who had the best scratch score of the day on 71, was out in 33, with birdies at the sixth and ninth, but had four bogeys in his second nine, with the only birdie on his inward half coming at the 16th.
