Bute YFC’s under-16s continued their good away form on Saturday with a comfortable 8-0 win away to Beith Juniors.
The island side built on their stunning Renfrewshire Cup win at holders Harmony Row seven days previously with an excellent all-round team performance against a Beith side who had put up a good fight in the sides’ last meeting just before Christmas.
Captain Max Allan opened the scoring with a screamer in the seventh minute, and Matthew Leitch’s diving header doubled the lead before two superb team goals, finished off by Connor McClymont and Matthew Leitch, put Bute firmly in control.
Ronan Officer made it five before Ryan McTaggart’s superb solo strike five minutes before half time gave the island side a 6-0 interval lead.
Coach Roddie Leitch took the opportunity to change the team’s personnel and structure after the break and try out some new ideas, and his experimentation resulted in two more goals in the second half, Officer and McClymont both notching their second of the afternoon.
Bute’s next fixture is on Saturday, February 16, away to Greenock Thistle.
