Nico McBride’ hat-trick helped Bute YFC to a 3-1 away win over Bishopton on Saturday – the island team’s second away win in a row this season.
McBride opened the scoring from the penalty spot after captain Max Allan was brought down inside the box, and though Bishopton drew level early in the second half, the visitors refused to be rattled and regained the lead when McBride struck a cracking volley into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
Despite some heavy tackles from an increasingly frustrated Bishopton side, Bute kept their cool and McBride tied up the win with his second penalty of the afternoon after Matthew Leitch was tripped inside the area.
This Saturday, October 6, Bute YFC are at home to Johnstone Burgh; the match kicks off at 1.30pm at the public stadium in Rothesay’s High Street.
