Rothesay Brandane’s first home fixture of the season in the Caledonian League ended in defeat to Viewfield Rovers on Saturday.
The Danes, not for the first time in recent games, were caught cold at the start of the game as Wai Chung Lam stroked home the opening goal for the Lochwinnoch men in only the second minute.
But the home side soon found their feet and levelled with five minutes remaining of an opening first half, Chris Lawrence rifling home from the penalty spot after Kyle Pattison was brought down.
The match was stopped for 15 minutes just after Lawrence’s leveller to allow the playing field to be used for a helicopter medical evacuation, and though the hosts saw out what remained of the first half untroubled, they were caught cold again at the start of the second half as Viewfield left-back Dale Burke put his team back in front.
Wes Pattison hit the crossbar as the home side pressed forward for a second equaliser, and the visitors sealed the points on 73 minutes when a free kick wasn’t properly cleared by the Brandanes’ defenders and substitute Craig Brown side-footed Rovers’ third past keeper Ryan Leitch.
