Rothesay Brandane ended an 18-month run without an away win in convincing fashion on Saturday with a 4-1 victory away to Caledonian League new boys Cumbernauld Colts.
Stuart McKechnie led the way with two penalties, while Wes Pattison and Neil Whitelaw also found the net as the Danes secured a second successive league win to go joint top of the First Division table.
Following their opening-day 4-1 win at home to Weir Recreation, the Danes - whose last away win before Saturday was a 4-2 success against Hamilton FP in February 2012 - now share top spot in the standings with Dalziel HSFP and Drumchapel, who were both relegated from the Premier Division at the end of last season and are expected to be among the front-runners-for promotion this time around.
Saturday’s match against the Broadwood-based club was the only game played in the First Division, as most ‘Caley’ clubs were involved in the League Cup, which the Brandanes do not enter.
The most recent First Division results, from matches played on August 13, are as follows: Balmore 3 Weir Recreation 0, Milngavie Wanderers 2 Bearsden 3, Symington Tinto 1 Dalziel HSFP 6, Viewfield Rovers 1 Drumchapel FP 5.
The Brandanes have no game on August 24 due to the Bute Highland Games; their next match is scheduled for August 31, though their opponents have yet to be announced.
