Ten-year-old Lewis Whitelaw from Port Bannatyne is the latest young Bute footballer to head for the mainland to develop his talent.
Right-winger Lewis signed a ‘pro youth’ contract with Greenock Morton recently, and is now part of the under-11 squad in the Cappielow club’s community set-up.
“We travel to the mainland three nights a week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, to train,” Lewis’s dad Neil told The Buteman, “and again on a Saturday for the games.
“He’s loving it so far. And he’s totally committed - for somebody of ten years old to be prepared to do all that travelling every week and to do his homework on the ferry is absolutely brilliant.”
