BUTE YFC had an away day to forget on Saturday as Eastwood Juveniles chalked up a convincing 4-0 win over the island side at Huntly Park in Giffnock.
The Bute team, hit badly by injuries and suspensions, got off to the worst possible start when a slip by left midfielder Connor McClymont let the hosts’ number nine in, and he crossed a great ball into the box for the Eastwood striker to send a fine close range header past keeper Ryan Leitch.
Another lapse in concentration allowed Eastwood to double their lead with an an unstoppable shot from a full 30 yards which looped over the top of a diving Ryan into the top corner.
Despite trailing 2-0 at the break Bute had dominated the play and were hopeful of getting back into the game after the break - but the visitors were dealt a hammer blow when a soft penalty award, which seemed to bemuse even the home players and their supporters, enabled Eastwood to take a 3-0 lead.
Bute continued to press forward looking for a way back into the game, but a poor challenge saw the referee give a second penalty to Eastwood late in the day, and that, too, was converted to complete the hosts’ victory.
BYFC’s next match is away to Barrhead on Saturday, September 22.
