ROTHESAY Brandane will play host to last season’s runners-up Colville Park in the first round of the 2012/13 West of Scotland Cup.

The Lanarkshire side, who play in the Central Scottish AFL, lost on penalties to Dumbarton Academy FP of the Caledonian League Premier Division in last season’s final, but were many people’s pre-match favourites to win the trophy, and could hardly present a stiffer test for the island club.

The tie is due to be played in Rothesay on Saturday, October 13.

The Brandanes, meanwhile, have been given a bye in the first round of this season’s Scottish Amateur Cup, and will be away to Strathclyde University in the second round on October 20.

The Strathclyde side in question is not the Caledonian League team who faced the Rothesay men in their season opener on August 11, but the university’s Greater Glasgow Premier League XI.

This Saturday, September 8, the Brandanes travel to Lanarkshire for a Caledonian League fixture away to Symington Tinto. The game kicks off at 2.30pm.
