There was congestion at the top of Bute Golf Club’s Winter League leaderboard last Saturday when four players had to settle for a share of first place.
Leighton Thomas, Graeme Connor, Robert McBride and David Bryden all finished on 41 points to lead the field in the latest round of the stableford competition.
Over the first nine holes Thomas (11) had edged ahead with a score of 22 points which included a two at the par-three third. He added 19 points on the back nine with a further birdie at the 14th.
The others fared better on the latter stages. In an erratic round littered by birdies and bogeys, Bryden (10) scored three of his four birdies -- including twos at the 12th and 15th holes -- on a back nine of 22 points.
