Leighton Thomas narrowed the gap at the top of Bute Golf Club’s Winter League contest in the latest round of the competition on Sunday.
Leighton Thomas and title-holder Robert McKirdy are locked in a neck-and-neck tussle in the race for the McArthur Cup in Bute Golf Club’s Winter League tournament.
Thomas (10) reduced the leeway on leader Robert McKirdy to just one point in the latest wind-ravaged round of the stableford competition, in which the best eight scores count.
Although nothing separated the pair on a difficult day at Kingarth when they led the field with 36 points apiece, Thomas had the lower score to discard.
McKirdy (6), who previously led by seven points, is still in pole position with an overall tally of 301, while his main rival is now on 300.
