Work shadowing scheme takes Rothesay pupils into community

Sixth year pupils at Rothesay Academy have been preparing for life beyond the classroom by spending a week shadowing someone in their chosen career as part of the school’s annual Work Shadowing scheme.

The pupils spent time in school beforehand gathering information about the career they would like to enter before contacting employers to arrange a placement at a wide variety of working environments, ranging from mechanics to the police and from the medical profession to the media.

Local placements included Charlotte Wilson at Strathclyde Police’s Rothesay office, Luke MacDonald and Jaryd Officer at Rothesay Leisure Centre and Nino Robertson at internet station Radio Bute, while several pupils’ placements took them away from Bute, with Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Glasgow University among the mainland destinations.
