Making a welcome return to Rothesay’s live music scene next weekend is jazz musician, John Burgess.
John has become known as Scotland’s man for all sessions, slipping with apparent effortlessness from playing 1920s and 30s style hot jazz with the Nova Scotia Jazz Band to spontaneous music with Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra.
John has recorded 14 albums as a leader and well over 100 sessions for various jazz, pop, electronica and rock acts and has played sessions on the BBC Radio, BBC TV, Radio Forth, Radio Clyde and Channel Four. Since returning to UK in 2005 he has toured with The Maveriks, Camille O’Sullivan, the Nova Scotia Jazz Band, Scottish Opera, The Peatbog Fairies, Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat, Tam White and Blue Soul Groove.
