Winter timetables and fares on Bute’s two ferry routes, and throughout the Caledonian MacBrayne network, take effect from this Sunday, October 20.
Fares for tickets bought on Bute, which are charged at the winter rate throughout the year, remain the same, but prices for tickets bought at mainland terminals fall - for example, on the Wemyss Bay-Rothesay route the cost of a passenger five-day return falls from £8.35 to £7, and for a car five-day return from £33.50 to £26.75.
The one major timetable change for Bute this winter is on the Rhubodach-Colintraive route, where for the first time the evening timetable is extended by an hour, with last sailings at 8.55pm from Colintraive and 9pm from Rhubodach, as suggested by the Scottish Government’s Ferries Review in December 2012.
That apart, the timetables on both the Wemyss Bay and Colintraive routes are the same as in previous winters, with the Sunday timetable on the Wemyss Bay service reverting to an hourly frequency between 12 noon and 7pm.
The company’s winter timetables and fares operate until April 3, 2014.
