Technical problems hit Bute ferry service

Ferry services at the north end of Bute were disrupted by technical problems on Saturday.

Sailings on Caledonian MacBrayne’s Rhubodach-Colintraive service by MV Loch Dunvegan were suspended ‘for technical reasons’ shortly after 8am, and though services resumed a short time later, intending passengers were warned that disruptions and delays were still possible.

Sailings were suspended for a second time at around 12.45pm, and though services restarted an hour later, it wasn’t until just after 4pm that CalMac finally confirmed a return to normal service.

The disruption to the Kyles crossing came on the same day that MV Argyle returned to service on the Rothesay-Wemyss Bay crossing, completing the annual overhaul cycle for the route’s two ‘resident’ ships and bringing to an end MV Coruisk’s spell providing relief cover.
