‘Most central belt services’ to run during strike, says ScotRail

Train operator ScotRail says that most services in the central belt of Scotland will run during two days of strike action by the RMT union just before Christmas.

Members of the union working for ScotRail are set to take part in strike action on Saturday, December 22 and Monday, December 24 in protest at the sacking of a colleague, in a move described by ScotRail management as “cynical in the extreme”.

A message on ScotRail’s Twitter account on Friday morning said: “Most services within central belt will operate during @RMTUnion action.”

Talks between the two sides are due to be held on Saturday; we’ll publish details of the strike day services, in particular with reference to the Wemyss Bay-Glasgow line, used by hundreds of Bute residents and visitors every day, as soon as they’re announced.
