Rothesay’s ferry service returned to normal on Monday morning after a week of disruption following a breakdown on MV Argyle.

The vessel, which suffered a turbocharger failure on May 31, re-entered service with the 7am sailing from Rothesay on Monday.

Specialist engineers from the ship’s engine manufacturer and turbocharger manufacturer were called in to investigate the failure, while spare parts were air freighted in to speed up repairs.

In an SMS service status alert, CalMac said: “We would like to thank passengers for your recent patience and understanding.”
