Bute’s contribution to the annual UK-wide Stand Up To Cancer appeal has raised a final total of more than £7,250.
Local campaign co-ordinator Anna Harrison revealed this week that the island’s total of £7,267 - and 91 pence - is the third highest local sum in the whole of the UK, and contributed towards a total of £57,581 from the 19 Cancer Research UK shops on the west coast of Scotland.
Thanking all those involved for their support for the campaign, Anna said: “It is a hope for the future and our immediate present because it will pay for the very best minds in the world to come together and push forward our research ten-fold. And it is a testament to everyone here that such a sum can be raised by such a small collective force!”
