Want to find out more about the range of sport, health and fitness opportunities available on Bute - and to get yourself a little fitter at the same time? Then get along to the island’s first Community Fun Run in Rothesay this Sunday.
There’s still time to register for the March 13 event by filling in a simple form at Rothesay Leisure Centre in High Street - though you can register on the day if you’d prefer.
The fun run - which starts at 1.30pm at Bute Shinty Club, with on-the-day registration from 1pm - is also open to joggers and walkers, and you can opt to cover one, two or three circuits of the Meadows.
The course starts at the shinty clubhouse and heads past the back of the old tennis courts (where vehicle parking will be available on the day), along Lovers’ Walk and back alongside the Lade.
All proceeds from Sunday’s event - which is suitable for all ages! - will go to the Dialysis Unit for Bute campaign, while there’s also lots of good reasons to stick around after you’ve completed the distance.
There’ll be teas, coffees and soft drinks available to quench your thirst, along with a range of stalls providing information on the island’s sports clubs and other organisations promoting health, fitness and wellbeing on Bute.
And according to the latest weather forecast it’ll be a dry and sunny day - ideal conditions to get some exercise in a good cause. We’ll see you there!
