Essential repairs to the outside of Rothesay Pavilion are due to start this month - more than a year after part of the exterior was fenced off on safety grounds.
The north-west face of the building has been fenced off since April 2014 due to the deteriorating condition of the 1938 structure.
Argyll and Bute Council announced last October that £335,000 was to be added to the pot of money set aside for the regeneration of the building to carry out repair work.
But a spokesperson for the authority said this week that most of that money would be spent only once the Pavilion is closed for its £8 million-plus refurbishment between September of this year and the summer of 2017.
“Between £30,000 and £50,000 is to be spent in May and June to make the worst of the outside safe,” we were told.
