A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a breach of the peace, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer following an incident in Longhill Terrace in Rothesay at 9.20pm on Sunday.

The man appeared from custody at Rothesay Sheriff Court the following day and denied all the charges against him; he was remanded in custody after an application for bail was refused.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run traffic collision which occurred in the car park at Argyll and Bute Council’s Eaglesham House office in Mountpleasant Road in Rothesay on Monday, when the sheriff court was in session inside the building; anyone who saw the collision is asked to contact Constable Bond or Constable Lawrie at Rothesay police office or by dialling Police Scotland on 101.
