Rothesay and District Pipe Band made the short journey to Paisley on Saturday to compete at their first event of the season, the British Pipe Band Championships.
Following a strong performance in the qualifying heat, necessary due to the high number of bands competing, players were delighted to find out they had been placed in the top six and would make the afternoon’s final.
After a second good performance the band were placed a very respectable ninth position - a fantastic achievement for such a young band - and can now look forward to competing at the West of Scotland Championships at Shotts on June 4.
Rothesay and District Pipe Band continues to offer free weekly tuition in piping and drumming to over 60 young people, part funded by the Youth Music Initiative. Hopefully some of these talented young players will make their debut over the course of this year.
