With a new visitor season for Bute just around the corner, local charity Beachwatch Bute has been out and about clearing litter from the island’s most popular stretch of shoreline.
Beachwatch ranger Sandra MacMillan was joined at Ettrick Bay last Sunday by a group of staff members (and their families!) from Rothesay’s Co-operative supermarket, and also by the MacKay family - two days after heading to the beach with her fellow Beachwatch committee member Sandra Stevenson to begin the considerable job of clearing a winter’s worth of marine litter from the shore in time for Easter.
Find out more about Beachwatch Bute, and how you can help the charity keep the island’s beaches in pristine condition, at the organisation’s Facebook page.
Beachwatch Bute’s annual general meeting takes place in Rothesay this Thursday, March 17 - after which we’ll look back at another busy 12 months for the charity.
